Agartala, 25th October 2025: Barely six days after the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) expelled six members for alleged anti-organizational activities, factional unrest continues to grip Dharmanagar. Tensions flared again this morning as rival groups within the BMS clashed during a North District Committee meeting, leaving three workers injured.
On October 19, 2025, the Tripura unit of BMS issued a formal statement announcing the lifetime expulsion of six individuals for engaging in activities deemed detrimental to the organization.
The expelled members are Biplab Das, a member of BMS Tripura Pradesh; Rup Nandi, also known as Rajat, who served as Vice President of the North Tripura District BMS; Prabir Ghosh, Vice President of the North District BMS; Mahesh Dutta from the Environment Forum of the North District BMS; Ratan Roy of Swabalambi Bharat, North District BMS; and Anupam Dhar, a general worker in the North District BMS.
Despite the disciplinary action, internal strife within the organization has intensified. According to sources, longstanding disputes between factions have plagued the union. The latest confrontation erupted during Saturday’s committee meeting, escalating into a physical altercation that resulted in injuries.
The injured workers were promptly taken to Dharmanagar District Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The unrest spilled over into the hospital premises, prompting police intervention to restore order. Additional security personnel have since been deployed in the area.
Local police confirmed that an investigation is underway and assured that appropriate legal action will be taken against those responsible for the violence.
