Agartala, 7th April 2026: Around 35 families in Roaza Para village under Chawmanu RD Block have been facing severe shortages of drinking water and electricity for a long time. Residents say the lack of basic services has disrupted their daily lives and created mounting hardships.
Locals allege that despite repeatedly informing officials, elected representatives, and ministers about the crisis, no effective steps have been taken. Even a written application submitted to the Chawmanu RD Block office for drinking water has failed to bring any relief.
Currently, villagers depend on water from a nearby stream. However, during the monsoon or at other times when the water turns muddy, the community faces acute distress. Residents fear that the absence of safe drinking water is increasing health risks.
Electricity shortages have added to the misery. After sunset, the area plunges into darkness, affecting students’ studies and disrupting routine household activities.
Frustrated by the prolonged neglect, villagers have raised their voices demanding urgent intervention. They are calling on the administration to ensure immediate access to clean drinking water and regular electricity supply in the area.
