BY TC News Desk

Agartala, October 29: In a distressing testament to the corrosive influence of power, wealth, and greed, a disturbing incident took place in the Madhucharan Para of Ward No. 4, Dasarath Bari Gram Panchayat, under the jurisdiction of the Sonamura police station. This dispute, rooted in the quest for control over a rubber plantation, has torn a father and son apart, leaving the community in shock.

At the center of this bitter family feud is Upendra Debbarma, the father, and his eldest son, Mohan Debbarma. The relentless struggle for ownership and control of the rubber plantation has driven a wedge between them, with Mohan resorting to violence against his father, often while under the influence of intoxicants.

The dispute has revolved around the elder son’s relentless demand to have the rubber plantation registered in his name, a request his father Upendra vehemently denied during his lifetime. The ongoing family discord saw multiple attempts at reconciliation through arbitration meetings, but all efforts proved futile.

However, tensions escalated to a shocking degree on a Sunday morning when Mohan Debbarma once again pressured his father Upendra to transfer the rubber plantation’s ownership. When Upendra refused, Mohan resorted to extreme violence, savagely beating his father with a stick. The brutal assault left Upendra Debbarma injured and lying on the ground, while Mohan hastily fled the scene.

The victim, Upendra Debbarma, was later rescued by a Good Samaritan named Abul Hasan, who brought him to the Sonamura sub-divisional hospital. Medical examination revealed that Upendra had sustained a broken hand as a result of the brutal attack.

In the wake of this shocking incident, Upendra intends to file a formal written complaint against his son, Mohan with the Sonamura police station. The community, appalled by the actions of the wayward son, is rallying for strict legal action and the imposition of appropriate penalties. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of familial disputes driven by power, greed, and personal gain.
