Agartala, October 29: A man was killed by his younger brother in a drunken brawl on the night of Lakshmi Puja in Kaskau Para area of Damcherra ADC Village under Damcherra police station. The deceased has been identified as Kungfarai Reang, who was allegedly stabbed by his younger brother Pajna Reang after a heated argument.
According to the locals, the two brothers were heavily intoxicated on the night of Lakshmi Puja and got into a fight over some issue. The elder brother hit the younger brother, who retaliated by cutting him with a sharp weapon and leaving him bleeding. The locals rushed the injured brother to the Damcherra Primary Health Center, where the health workers and the Damcherra police helped them to take him to the North District Hospital at Dharmanagar. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
The police have arrested the accused brother and registered a case of murder against him. They are investigating the motive behind the crime and the weapon used in the incident. The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination. The incident has shocked the villagers and created a tense situation in the area.
