Minor girl gang-raped on Lakshmi Puja night

Agartala, October 29: A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by three youths on the night of Lakshmi Puja in Mungiakami police station area of Tripura. The accused have been arrested and booked under the POCSO Act.

According to the police, the victim, along with her minor boyfriend and two friends, had gone out to eat Prasad of Lakshmi Puja on Saturday night. On their way, they were accosted by a youth named Kshitish Debbarma, who threatened them and dragged away the victim and her boyfriend. He then took them to a secluded place in the east, where he was joined by his accomplices Ajay Debbarma and Subikas Debbarma. The trio then raped the girl repeatedly throughout the night.

The victim managed to return home on Sunday morning and narrated the ordeal to her family. They immediately rushed to the Mungiakami police station and lodged a complaint against the accused. The police swung into action and arrested Kshitish, Ajay and Subikas, who are aged between 18 and 20 years. They have been charged under the POCSO Act and will be produced in court on Monday.

The police also took the victim to a hospital for medical examination. They are continuing the investigation into the incident. The incident has sparked outrage among the locals, who have demanded severe punishment for the culprits. They have also questioned the safety of women and children in the state, where incidents of violence and crime are on the rise. They have appealed to the authorities to take strict measures to prevent such heinous acts in the future.
