Agartala, 30th June 2025:  In a tragic accident on Monday morning, a farmer sustained serious injuries after both his legs got caught in the rotating blade of a power tiller at Dhalabil Tea Garden area in Khowai district.

The injured farmer, identified as Bidhan Das, a resident of Durganagar under Khowai subdivision, was reportedly ploughing a field belonging to Dulal Goala, adjacent to the Dhalabil Tea Garden, when the incident occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened due to a moment of carelessness while Bidhan was shifting the power tiller from one plot to another. Both his legs became trapped in the spinning blade of the machine, leaving him grievously injured.

Despite the pain, Bidhan managed to stop the power tiller and cried out for help. Nearby female workers engaged in irrigation (rega) work rushed to the scene, removed the blade carefully, and rescued the injured farmer.

He was immediately taken to Khowai District Hospital, where doctors administered preliminary treatment before referring him to GBP Hospital in Agartala due to the severity of his condition. He is currently undergoing treatment and remains in a critical state.
