Farmer injured in elephant attack at Teliamura

Agartala, August 25, 2023: A farmer from Teliamura sub-division had was injured after a wild elephant attack on Thursday night. Niranjan Biswas (53) of Jhum Bari area was working in his agricultural field when he was attacked by the elephant. He remained unconscious and injured throughout the night until he was rescued by the fire department personnel on Friday morning.

Biswas was taken to the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital with severe injuries on his neck and other parts of his body. His family members said that they had searched for him on Thursday night but could not find him. They thought he might have stayed at a friend’s house.

The incident is the latest in a series of wild elephant attacks in the vast area of Teliamura sub-division. The farmers and the common people are living in fear of the elephants, who often damage their crops and properties. The locals have demanded that the administration should take immediate and effective measures to prevent the elephant menace.
