Agartala, 17th April 2025: In a bid to enhance agri-based livelihoods through modern horticultural practices, Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited (BKSL), a national-level organization, conducted a comprehensive training program on “Modern Technologies of Horticulture” at the Panchayet Community Hall in Charilam, Sepahijala district.
The training, held on April 17, was supported by the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Dimapur, Nagaland under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The initiative aimed to equip local farmers with advanced knowledge on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), sustainable farming techniques, local-level value addition, and market linkages for improved price realization.
A total of 50 farmers participated in the session, expressing commitment to implement their learnings in the field. The participants primarily cultivate paddy, turmeric, pineapple, orange, banana, and seasonal vegetables.
Speaking on the occasion, BKSL representatives emphasized the importance of adopting modern horticultural technologies to boost productivity and profitability. The training is expected to strengthen the operations of the four Farmer Producer Companies (FPOs) working in the region by enabling bulk aggregation and better market access.
“This initiative will not only help increase farm income but also contribute significantly towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting environmentally sustainable and economically viable agriculture,” said a CIH official.
The program marks a step forward in empowering Tripura’s farming community through knowledge sharing and collective action.
