Agartala, November 27, 2022: The female members and supporters of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) state committee led by its central committee member Baishali Majumder staged a protest procession against the alleged increase in the crime against women across the state here in the capital city on Sunday.

Speaking to media personnel on the sidelines of the protest rally, SFI central committee member Majumder said “We have seen after the formation of BJP-led government in 2014 and again in 2019, they gave a slogan of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. But we are here to inform the ruling party-led government at the centre that the slogan given by them needs correction and it will be ‘Beti Bachao BJP Hatao’.”

Clarifying her statement, she said “People from all walks are well aware that the crime against women is increasing in a rapid pace across the state. People are also aware about explosion of series of bombs, but here in Tripura, series of gang-rapes are taking place and some of the instances are- Kailashahar, Jogendranagar, Kumarghat, etc. Almost every day, gang-rapes are taking place.”

“Not only this, the victims of the crime against women start from six-year old girl to aged women of our society. In such a situation, SFI feel that bigger movements should be launched in the coming days against these inhuman activity towards girls and women. But before that, we are facing obstacles for organizing such movements as because, leaders and supporters were threatened at their houses for not attending this event in Agartala city”, she added.
