Agartala, November 27, 2022: All India Working Women’s Cooperative Committee (AIWWCC) on Sunday organized its 9th conference at the premises of CITU state headquarters here.

Addressing the conference, former Chief Minister and leader of opposition Manik Sarkar said “After the formation of coalition government in state, it is the first conference or convention organized by All India Working Women’s Cooperative Committee at the CITU state committee office here.”

“At present, holding conference is a struggle. Earlier, conference was a festival. Currently, it has become troublesome to attend conference, return home and Living a normal life has become difficult. Such a situation was never there earlier. The situation across the state is not at all conducive as threats are being given to the supporters and leaders whosoever is following the ideologies of opposition party. People are being forced to leave supporting opposition party. The ruling party workers are finalizing who will support which organization which was never there earlier”, he added.

Sarkar said “During the last election, the current ruling party had made several commitments to the workers of project-based works. But, the party and its government is walking on the opposite direction. It seem to be a sin to raise voice for own rights and demands during the BJP’s reign in Tripura. People irrespective of gender are being attacked during the present government’s tenure which wasn’t there during Left Front’s tenure. People had every democratic right to hold movement against the government and raise allegations. None was stopped during the previous Leftist regimes.”
