Agartala, 5th October 2025 : On the eve of Kojagari Lakshmi Puja, both urban and rural areas of Tripura are abuzz with festive preparations as devotees gear up to worship Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
From early Sunday morning, markets across the state capital wore a vibrant look. Stalls and makeshift shops lined the streets, filled with essential puja items — paddy, durba grass, mango leaves, flowers, bel leaves, tulsi, sesame seeds, haritaki, banana bark, puffed rice (khoi), laddus, fruits, and various offerings for the goddess.
Vendors were seen enthusiastically displaying their goods as buyers thronged the markets to purchase items for tomorrow’s rituals. The festive rush created a lively, colorful scene across Agartala’s major marketplaces.
Speaking to several traders, most reported satisfactory sales this year. One shopkeeper said, “As every year, people are very enthusiastic about Kojagari Lakshmi Puja. There’s good demand for paddy, puffed rice, sweets, sesame, and fruits. Customers have been coming since morning.”
Another vendor added, “Prices are a bit higher this year, but sales are steady. People are shopping happily in the festive mood.”
Buyers, too, expressed their excitement, calling Kojagari Lakshmi Puja a day of joy and devotion. Homes across the city are busy with last-minute preparations, with families decorating their prayer spaces and arranging offerings to seek the goddess’s blessings.
All in all, on the eve of the festival, Agartala’s markets are bustling with energy and joy, capturing the essence of the upcoming Kojagari Lakshmi Puja — a celebration of faith, prosperity, and togetherness.
