Agartala, January 14, 2023: The farmers of Kanchanmala, Dukli Block under West Tripura district participated in a ‘Field Day on Kharif Onion’ organized by College of Agriculture, Tripura in collaboration and sponsored by NABARD, regional office Tripura, Agartala at Farmer’s field, Kanchanmala.
In the inaugural session of the programme Dr Tapan Kumar Maity, Principal, College of Agriculture, Tripura; Loken Das, General Manager, NABARD, Agartala; Alok Purohit, DGM, NABARD; Dr Tridip Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professor; Pradhan, Upa-Pradhan, Member of Panchyat Samiti, Members of Kanchanmala Gram Panchyat, Agri Assistant and other dignitaries were present and addressed the farmers with warm greetings.
This programme was attended by 50 farmers of different villages of Kanchanmala Panchyat keeping in view to aware and sensitized the farmers about the prospect and possibilities of onion cultivation in Tripura.
Loken Das in his speech emphasis about importance of onion cultivation as new venture of income from Tripura farmer as the maximum portion of the onion requirement for Tripura used to export from others state.
Other dignitaries also emphasis about the huge scope for onion cultivation in Tripura as the climate and Soil of Tripura are well suited for this.
The farmers has expressed their gratitude towards the guests and expresses his knowledge gathered from this field day and also requested to organize such types of programme in College and as well as in farmers’ field.
