Agartala, January 14, 2023: The local people of Sanchiram Bari bazar area under Santirbazar sub-division on Saturday booked two youths with a huge haul of narcotic substances and handed them over to Jolaibari outpost.
It is reported that the local residents arrested two drug dealers in the area adjacent to Sanchiramari Park on Friday. OC Bishnu Chandra Das and SI Shib Shankar Saha of Baikhora police station rushed to the spot after hearing about this. The police arrived at the spot and searched the two youths and recovered 76 vials of brown sugar and 195 empty vials.
In the past days, many drug dealers were arrested from this area and handed over to the police of Jolaibari outpost. At present, OC Bishnu Chandra Das is taking strict action against drug dealers after taking charge of the new OC in Baikhora Police Station.
After these two drug dealers were handed over to the police by the local residents today, the police took up a case against them in case number 3 at Baikhora police station. These two drug dealers are identified as Pemendra Reang, a resident of Devipur area under Santirbazar subdivision and Hamilton Reang, a resident of Birchandra Manu.
Addressing the media, the OC of Baikhora police station said that the two people will be sent to Belonia District and Sessions Court on Sunday and a police remand application will be made for interrogation.
He said strict action will be taken against drug dealers. The OC said that the market value of recovered drug paraphernalia on Saturday will be around Rs 15 to 20 thousand.
