Agartala, 10th March 2025 : A high-level delegation from the Tripura Government Employees Federation (TGEF) submitted a memorandum with ten key demands to the State Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy at the secretariat here today. The meeting took place this noon aimed to address pressing issues affecting government employees and retired personnel in the state.
The ten demands include the payment of 23 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) to state government employees and pensioners, bringing allowances on par with the Seventh Central Pay Commission’s recommendations, and eliminating pay disparities in certain cases. The memorandum also called for the regularization of irregular employees working without finance department sanctions and employees in the education system, aligning them with similar practices in other states.
Other demands outlined by the Federation include: Reduction of pension commutation for retirees from fifteen to twelve years; Provision of pensions for employees of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under social security frameworks; Immediate implementation of ad-hoc promotions across government departments; and Strategies to address state unemployment and staffing shortages in various departments through systematic recruitment.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, acting Secretary General of TGEF Subhash Sutradhar expressed optimism about the outcome of the discussions. “We had detailed deliberations with the Honorable Finance Minister, and we are hopeful that our demands will be considered seriously, especially before the final report of the 16th Finance Commission is submitted,” he said in a press communiqué.
The delegation included prominent leaders such as Vice Chairman of Tripura Road Transport Corporation and TGEF Secretary General Samar Roy, TGEF President Sanjib Chakraborty, Treasurer Mrinal Chakraborty, and High-Power Committee Chairman Swarnendu Banik. Additionally, representatives from allied employee organizations, including Deepak Das, Secretary General of All Tripura Employees Federation and Biswajit Deb, President of Tripura Employees Action Committee lent their support to the Federation’s efforts.
The TGEF has emphasized the urgency of addressing these issues to ensure equitable treatment for state employees and improve the efficiency of government operations.
