Agartala, 10th March 2025 :   A Class XII student from Telkajla area in Melaghar got addicted to the online game Free Fire and ran away with a youth from another state. The girl named Tania Akhtar recently appeared for her final exams and received a mobile phone from her parents for online classes and schoolwork. However, her obsession with the game led her to connect with Sonu Kumar from Bihar and eventually ran away with him.

The incident took place at Ward No. 5 of Telkajla village under Melaghar police station. Reportedly, Tania Akhtar, daughter of Monir Hossain left home on March 7 claiming she was going to Melaghar. Instead, she fled with Sonu Kumar, whom she had met through the game. Monir Hossain filed a case with Melaghar police station but since the girl is 18 years old, the authorities have refrained from intervening.

After three days with no updates, Monir Hossain informed media personnel about his distress. The case has raised concerns about the impact of online gaming addiction on young minds and the need for parental vigilance in monitoring their children’s activities. The locals remain anxious as the investigation takes place.
