Agartala, 23rd September 2026 : : The family of a deceased CRPF jawan is reportedly facing severe financial hardship in Jampuijala’s Chikanchhara Village, with his widow appealing to the government for assistance.
The family resides at Chandithakur Para of Chikanchhara Village. The deceased jawan, Ajit Debbarma, had served in 127 Battalion of the CRPF for around 15 years. According to his wife, Nandita Debbarma, he left his service in 2003 and returned to their native village after the death of their first child.
Ajit died around five years ago. Since then, his family has allegedly not received pension and other government benefits that they were expecting, leaving them in serious financial difficulty.
Nandita said the family is struggling to manage even basic household expenses and does not have a proper shelter. She claimed that despite submitting the required documents to the concerned government departments, she has not yet received a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
She appealed to the government to look into her situation and provide the benefits and assistance due to the family of the deceased CRPF personnel.
Nandita said she is finding it increasingly difficult to run the household amid the financial crisis and urged the authorities to take immediate steps to help the family secure a permanent home and other eligible government benefits.
