Agartala, 23rd December 2025: Panic spread in Mahadebtilla area of Khowai district late last night after a sudden fire engulfed a stack of hay stored at the residence of Ranjit Kumar Das. The exact cause of the blaze remains unclear.
According to local sources, the fire broke out around midnight when the haystack kept in Das’s courtyard suddenly caught flames. Neighbors, noticing the intensity of the blaze, rushed to alert Das, who woke to find the stored fodder burning rapidly.
The incident was immediately reported to the fire service. A team of firefighters reached the spot and managed to bring the flames under control. Preliminary estimates suggest the damage amounts to nearly Rs 20,000.
Although the financial loss is relatively modest, Das expressed deep concern as the hay was the primary source of fodder for his cattle. With the entire stock reduced to ashes, he now faces uncertainty over arranging feed for his livestock.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, leaving the incident shrouded in mystery.
