Agartala, 23rd October 2024:  Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das made an urgent visit to the Hezamara fisheries storage center following complaints that it had remained closed for six months. Upon inspection, he found that fishery products were spoiled inside the storage center and the infrastructure was in a state of neglect due to the prolonged closure.

Accompanied by the Director of Fisheries Department, Additional Director and other officials, Minister Das witnessed firsthand the deteriorated condition of the storage center. Expressing his displeasure, he immediately directed the head of the office to issue a show cause notice to the in-charge of the storage center.

“This storage center has been abandoned for six months, resulting in significant damage to the infrastructure and spoilage of fishery products,” Minister Das stated. “We cannot tolerate such negligence. I have directed the issuance of a show cause notice, and if the response is not satisfactory, direct action will be taken.”

Addressing the media, Minister Das emphasized the seriousness of the situation and the need for accountability. “I want to make it clear that we will not hesitate to take stringent measures if necessary. The department must ensure that such lapses do not occur in the future,” he added.
