Agartala, 23rd October 2024: A severe collision between two lorries occurred on the national highway in the Jirania Khamtingbari area leaving one driver seriously injured. The injured driver identified as Siddhesh Roy is in critical condition. The accident also caused damage to a nearby bike and resulted in significant disruption.
According to the incident report, lorry number bearing registration number AS01RC-7923 was traveling from Jirania to Guwahati when it collided head-on with lorry number TR01AW-1840, which was heading in the opposite direction towards Agartala. One of the lorries was loaded with cement. The crash also damaged a roadside bike bearing registration number TR01AM-6471.
Police responded swiftly, rescuing the drivers and impounding both vehicles involved in the collision. Speaking about the incident, a police officer said, “It appears that the collision occurred because one of the lorries failed to brake while overtaking a bus at Baramura.” Investigations are currently underway to determine further details regarding the cause of the accident.
The authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution on highways, especially in high-traffic areas.
