Fisheries Training Centre to add new dimension to Fatikroy development: Sudhangshu Das

Date:

Agartala, 14th September 2026 : A new milestone in the overall development of the Fatikroy Assembly constituency is expected to be achieved soon with the construction of a Fisheries Training Centre-cum-Guest House progressing rapidly, Fisheries and SC Welfare Minister and Fatikroy MLA Sudhangshu Das said.

Das made the remarks while inspecting the ongoing construction work at the project site on Sunday along with officials of the Fisheries Department, Panchayat representatives and local residents. During the inspection, he held detailed discussions with the officials and stakeholders regarding the quality of construction and adherence to the scheduled completion timeline.

According to Das, the proposed facility is aimed at strengthening the fisheries sector in the constituency by providing modern, technology-oriented training opportunities to fish farmers. The centre will also have accommodation facilities for trainees and guests coming from distant areas.

“I am optimistic that once this modern training centre becomes operational, it will not only enhance the skills of fish farmers through technology-driven training but also ensure quality accommodation for trainees and guests arriving from distant areas,” Das said.

He said the initiative would contribute to the overall development of the fisheries sector and create greater opportunities for local fish farmers to acquire updated knowledge and skills.

Notably, the government has also extended group accident insurance coverage to 1,10,559 fishers, providing an important social-security measure for fishing communities and their families.

Meanwhile, keeping the upcoming Village Committee elections in view, Das also participated in an election meeting at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Fatikroy Mandal office. Tribal leaders from different ADC areas attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on organisational preparations, public outreach and party programmes ahead of the Village Committee elections. Discussions were also held on strengthening coordination at the grassroots level and ensuring effective communication with people in the tribal areas.
