Agartala, 18th April 2026: Tension in Dharmanagar’s Mangalakali area has eased after police arrested all five accused in connection with the murder of Khaled Hossain.
On March 21, a violent clash over financial dealings between two groups in Mangalakali led to the death of Hossain, sparking widespread unrest. The incident triggered arson, road blockades, and days of turmoil in the locality.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s family, police launched an investigation and initially arrested three suspects—Jahar Uddin, Haidar Ali, and Moin Uddin—from Ragna in Dharmanagar subdivision. They were remanded to judicial custody.
Continuing the probe, police apprehended two more accused—Abdul Noor and Ekram Ali—from Padmabil in Panisagar late Friday night. Both were produced before court on Saturday after completion of legal procedures.
Police claim that all individuals involved in the crime have now been arrested and the investigation is progressing.
Local residents report that the situation in Mangalakali, which had remained volatile for weeks, has largely returned to normal. However, some allege that lapses by Dharmanagar subdivision police delayed the arrests, urging authorities to respond more swiftly in future cases.
