Five held in connection with gold snatching case in city

Agartala: November 15. The police of West Agartala police station got a big success in investigating of robbery incident from Jayanagar area. According to the details of the incident, on September 23, robbers snatched a gold chain from the neck of Britha Deb Pal, a resident of Jayanagar area. After this incident the victim filed a case with West Agartala police station. But due to the lack of CCTV footage, the police faced a lot of problems in investigating the incident.

Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ajay Kumar Das said that the police of West Agartala police station conducted an operation late on Monday night after investigating the robbery incident. Amrit Roy and Sagar Nama, residents of ward No. 10 of North Anandnagar area, were first arrested in this operation. Based on their confession, Amaresh Chakraborty, a resident of Bhagat Singh Colony and another Mintu Das, a government employee by profession, a resident of South Ramnagar area, were arrested.

According to their confession, Manappuram Gold Loan Finance Company Manager Rimon Chakraborty was arrested on Tuesday morning. Several stolen gold ornaments were recovered from them. Addressing reporters at the West Agartala police station on Tuesday, the police officer of Sadar Sub-Division also said that the arrested Amrit Roy and Sagar are robbers. They then sold the stolen goods to Amaresh Chakraborty and Mintu Das, a government employee. Later, Amaresh Chakraborty and government employee Mintu Das along with Manappuram Gold Loan Finance Company Manager Rimon Chakraborty took loans from Manappuram Gold Loan Finance Company without any documents.
