Agartala, 20th June 2026: Serious allegations have emerged against members of the BJP Yuva Morcha in the Badharghat area for allegedly carrying out massive violence and launching attacks on five persons, including two women, and vandalising one car and three bikes over an extramarital affair that came to light yesterday late at night.
According to Kaberi Sinha, an employee of the State Health Department who is also a victim, a group of approximately 40–45 people allegedly entered her residence near Badharghat Stadium between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. She has alleged that several of the individuals involved were associated with the BJP Yuva Morcha and local BJP leadership.
The incident is reportedly linked to a long-running dispute surrounding an alleged extramarital relationship between Sinha and fellow Health Department employee Partha Chowdhury. Sources indicate that complaints regarding the matter had previously been filed by Chowdhury’s wife at multiple police stations, including Agartala Women Police Station and Amtali Police Station.
Sinha alleged that when she returned home after taking her daughter to private tuition classes, she found Chowdhury being assaulted. She further claimed that she and her elderly mother were also attacked when they attempted to intervene. Other family members and relatives who arrived at the scene were allegedly assaulted as well.
The family has also accused Tripura Police of failing to take effective action despite being present during the incident. Particularly serious allegations have been raised against a woman police officer, identified as Susmita Debnath. Family members claim that after some relatives took shelter inside a room for safety, attackers were able to re-enter the house and continue the assault despite the presence of police personnel.
According to the family, at least four to five people, including Partha Chowdhury, sustained injuries and required medical treatment. They also alleged extensive property damage, including the vandalism of a car, several motorcycles, CCTV cameras, furniture, and other household items.
The incident has sparked tension in the area, prompting the deployment of additional police personnel from Arundhatinagar Police Station to maintain law and order. The police have not registered any cases and have neither arrested anyone nor taken action against those allegedly involved.
The allegations have taken on political significance, with claims that BJP Yuva Morcha-linked individuals were involved in the attack.
