Agartala, 10th June 2025:    Threads, mosquito nets, and a range of sports equipment were distributed among locals at a community outreach programme organised by the Forest Department at Dashda Town Hall under Kanchanpur subdivision today.

The event, aimed at strengthening engagement with remote tribal communities, saw the presence of Forest, Science, Technology and Environment Minister Animesh Debbarma as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted several upcoming initiatives under the IGDC-C.R.E.F.L.T. project.

He announced that under the project, essential infrastructure like roads, schools, and colleges in tribal-dominated remote areas would be renovated. Plans are also in place to construct community halls and distribute solar lights to tribal families to ensure sustainable development and energy access.

“The government is also working to promote self-reliance among traditional weavers by providing them with modern equipment and necessary support,” said Debbarma.

The programme was presided over by Dashda BAC Chairman Udarram Ryang. MLA Philip Kumar Ryang, ADC Executive Member Bhabaranjan Ryang, and IGDC Project CEO S. Prabhu also addressed the gathering, expressing their support for inclusive growth in the region.

Principal Secretary of the Forest Department R. K. Shyamal delivered the welcome address, while MDC Shailendra Nath, North Zonal Chairman Deepali Ryang, Jampuihill BAC Chairman Biak Chutnunga, and District Forest Officer Suman Malla were among the other dignitaries present.
