Agartala, 31st August 2026 : Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Kallarackal, C.S.C., former Principal of Holy Cross School and founding Principal of Holy Cross College, Agartala, passed away in Ireland on August 29, 2026. The Congregation of Holy Cross, Province of Northeast India, mourned his death, describing him as a visionary educator, inspiring leader and mentor.
Fr. Emmanuel served as Vice Principal of Holy Cross School from 1984 to 1987 and later as Principal from 1997 to 2003. In 2009, he became the founding Principal of Holy Cross College and continued in the position until 2019, playing a key role in expanding higher education opportunities in Tripura.
The Congregation said his contribution extended beyond academics, as he focused on nurturing character, confidence and values among young people. His legacy, it said, lives on through thousands of students and teachers he inspired and mentored.
Arrangements are underway to bring his mortal remains to Agartala. Details of the funeral and final rites will be communicated later.
