Four BJP workers attacked by CPI(M) supporters in Bishalgarh

Agartala, 23rd August 2026 :  Four BJP workers were allegedly assaulted by CPI(M) supporters at Lalsingmura Rangapania area under Bishalgarh police station on Sunday evening, triggering tension in the locality.

According to reports, the incident occurred following an argument over feeding livestock. The injured persons were identified as Taslima Akter, Ambia Khatun, Bikash Mia and Bikash Mia’s wife. They were initially taken to the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors provided first aid before referring them to the GB Pant Hospital in Agartala for further treatment.

The condition of the injured was reported to be critical. Taslima Akter alleged that there had been an ongoing dispute with some people in the area over political issues and that the matter escalated on Sunday. She named Sonu Mia, Harif Mia, Munna Mia, Liton Mia and Bapan Mia as the alleged attackers.

Following news of the incident, tension reportedly spread across the area, with supporters of both BJP and CPI(M) gathering in the locality. Police personnel from Bishalgarh police station reached the spot, while additional security forces were deployed to prevent any further escalation.

As of the time of filing the report, police had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
