Date:

Agartala, 11th  May 2026: North Tripura Police achieved a major success in their anti-narcotics drive after seizing a huge quantity of Yaba tablets in two separate operations conducted within 24 hours, leading to the arrest of multiple alleged drug traffickers.

In the latest operation, police from Bagbasa Police Station under Dharmanagar Sub-division conducted a late-night raid on Sunday near Holy Cross School in the Bagbasa area based on secret information. During the operation, two youths were detained and searched, leading to the recovery of around 9,800 Yaba tablets.

According to police sources, the estimated black-market value of the seized contraband is approximately Rs 50 lakh. The arrested accused have been identified as          Abdul Kabim Uddin (31), resident of Uttar Padmabil village under Panisagar Police Station and Abdul Karim (30), resident of Sakhaibari village under Dharmanagar Police Station.

Police said the two are related as brothers-in-law.

Investigators revealed that information regarding drug trafficking activities in the area had been received for a long time. Acting on the intelligence input, police personnel in plain clothes kept the suspects under surveillance before apprehending them. Following all legal procedures, the accused are currently being interrogated to identify other members connected to the trafficking network.

Earlier on Saturday night, Panisagar Police also carried out another successful anti-drug operation. Police intercepted two suspected traffickers near Tilthai railway gate while they were allegedly transporting Yaba tablets from Uttar Padmabil towards Churaibari.

During the search operation, police recovered 20,000 Yaba tablets from their possession and arrested Sohel Alam (19), resident of Churaibari and Babul Uddin (29), resident of Churaibari.

With these back-to-back seizures, the name of Uttar Padmabil has surfaced twice within 24 hours in connection with alleged narcotics trafficking, raising concerns over the growing drug network in the region.

Police investigations are underway to uncover the larger interstate trafficking nexus and identify other individuals involved in the racket.
