Agartala, 28th December 2025: A severe road accident occurred on Saturday night near Shantipur Gate under Pecharthal Police Station, leaving four people seriously injured and causing extensive damage to a house.
According to local sources, a lorry traveling along the Agartala National Highway lost control while heading from Kumarghat towards Pecharthal and crashed directly into a residential house near Shantipur Gate.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver and co-driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
The four injured, all laborers by profession, were rushed to Pecharthal Primary Health Center for initial treatment. Due to the worsening condition of their injuries, doctors referred them to Kailasnagar District Hospital for advanced medical care.
The recent surge in road accidents in the district has raised concerns among local authorities and residents. Many are demanding stricter enforcement of speed limits and enhanced safety measures on national highways.
