Agartala July 28: Anganwadi workers on Thursday placed deputation to the Social welfare minister, Santana Chakma.
Notably, the Anganwadi workers and helpers are continuously carrying out movement with three-point demands including increasing the salary and allowances of the Anganwadi workers, settling the gratuity money after retirement, increasing the age limit of service from 60 years to 65 years.
They alleged that the government is not complying with the orders of the Supreme Court. And the present government has not increased even a single rupee of salary allowance since its establishment. Therefore, the workers and helpers of various Anganwadi centers across the state have been placing deputation to the Chief Minister through CDPO at various places. At the same time, pressure is being exerted for speedy implementation of demands through hall meetings.
A deputation was presented to the Minister of Social Welfare and Social Education Department Shantana Chakma on the initiative of Tripura Anganwadi Workers Sangh on Thursday with 3 charter point demands.
While giving the deputation on this day, the minister assured that a decision will be taken soon on the matters under the government’s purview. Next time everyone will be called and informed about this decision. Manjula Chakraborty, general secretary of the organization, said that during the four years of the government, the salaries and allowances of the Anganwadi workers were not increased.In this situation, Manjula Chakraborty announced that if the government does not take a decision to accept their demands before Durga puja, they will embark on a larger movement.
