Agartala, 29th March 2026: The supply of petrol, diesel, and LPG across the state remains normal, with adequate stock of all petroleum products available, a senior official of the Food Department confirmed today.
Speaking at a press conference held at the conference hall of the Directorate of Food, Public Procurement and Consumer Affairs, Special Secretary Debapriya Vardhan stated that there is no shortage of essential fuels in the state. He assured that the government is closely monitoring the situation to ensure uninterrupted availability.
Vardhan informed that the supply of commercial LPG currently stands at around 90 percent. He added that the booking and delivery process for domestic LPG is functioning within 15 to 25 days in urban areas, while in rural areas, deliveries are being completed within approximately 45 days.
Providing details on distribution, he said that LPG is being supplied to five districts from the Bodhjangnagar LPG plant, while the remaining three districts are receiving supplies from Silchar.
Highlighting infrastructure growth, the Special Secretary noted that there are currently around 90,000 PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections in the state. The government is actively working to expand this network further in the coming months.
He also emphasized that strict vigilance has been put in place to curb black marketing and hoarding of LPG, petrol, and diesel. Authorities have intensified monitoring efforts and are taking continuous steps to maintain smooth and fair distribution of fuel across the state.
Director of the department, Sumit Lodh, along with other officials, was also present at the press conference.
