Agartala, 26th August 2025: :The central committee of Gana Mancha submitted a deputation to the OBC Welfare Department today, pressing for the rights and development of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community through an eight-point demand charter. The delegation included several senior leaders and members of the organization.
Speaking at the event, a Gana Mancha representative emphasized the need to ensure legislative reservation for OBCs in the state assembly under Article 31-G of the Constitution. The group also called for the immediate enforcement of 27% reservation for OBCs in central educational institutions and government bodies.
According to the organization, members of the OBC community have long been deprived of access to education, employment, and other essential opportunities. Gana Mancha stated that the current initiative aims to address these systemic inequalities and push for structural reforms.
Issuing a stern warning, the group declared that failure to meet their demands would prompt a larger statewide movement in the coming days.
