Ganja Plantation Destroyed in Joint Operation at Sonamura

Agartala, 28th November 2025:  Acting on a tip-off, a joint team conducted a major anti-narcotics operation today from 1200 hrs to 1430 hrs in the forest land area of Putia GP Tila, successfully destroying a large illegal ganja plantation.

The operation was led by Inspector Arup Debbarma of Kolumcherra Police Station, accompanied by police station officers and staff, TSR personnel, and BSF troops from Boxanagar BOP of 49 Bn, under the leadership of Post Commander SI Janak Raj.

During the coordinated raid, the team uprooted and destroyed approximately 2,000 ganja plants, spread across four separate plots.

Authorities confirmed that the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal cultivation and the narcotics trade in the region. Further investigation is underway to identify those involved in the plantation.
