Gender Council felicitates women personalities  on International Women’s Day

Agartala, 8th March 2024: Gender Council, a wing of Tripura Journalists Union affiliated under Indian Journalist Association organized the event with due dignity took the opportunity to felicitate eminent women personalities belonging to the Press and Media Fraternity along with others working in the similar field on the eve of International Women’s Day.

Senior Journalist Nandita Dutta, News Anchor and Journalist Chandanlekha Paul ( Akashvani Agartala) and Program Executive Sonali Saha ( Doordarshan Kendra Agartala ) graced the occasion held at Agartala Press Club on Friday.

The dignitaries shared their valuable thoughts on the topic; ‘Online Harassment of Women Journalists’.

Gender Council also took the opportunity to recognize and felicitate three women who have set unique examples in the society through their work.

Dipti Malakar, Zomato delivery Girl who rushes door-to-door to deliver food and supports her family of two son and husband, Monti Saha, a small tea- stall owner who is the sole earner of her family and Kabita Chakraborty, who earns two-time meal by doing duty at a parking lot were felicitated for their commendable work and dedication.

TJU President Parnab Sarkar, Joint Secretary TJU Abhishek Dey and TJU Secretary Santosh Gope also remained present at the program. The senior journalists who spoke on the occasion discussed how women have excelled in various fields including journalism.

Women working in various media houses across the city were also felicitated for their tireless service at the day’s program.

Convenor of Gender Council, Shesadri Dasgupta extended her vote of thanks.
