Agartala, October 15: The Second Annual Gomati District-Level Conference of the Tripura State Pump Operators Association took place at Rajarshi Kalakshetra on Sunday. The event was inaugurated by State Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, who marked the occasion by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
The conference garnered the presence of distinguished guests, including Gomti District Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Debal Debroy, MLA Jitendra Majumder, and Shital Chandra Majumder, the chairperson of the Udaipur Municipal Council. The event also saw participation from state and district leaders representing the organization.
During his address, Minister Pranajit Singha Roy highlighted the improved state of affairs since the BJP government assumed power in the state. He pointed out that under the previous Left Front government, employees, including pump operators, often had to resort to protests and demonstrations to voice their demands. The situation has changed significantly, and he commended the change brought about by the current administration.
Minister Roy urged all employees, including the pump operators, to diligently perform their duties and complete their work on time. He stressed the importance of efficient service delivery and encouraged employees to continue their dedication.
Towards the conclusion of the conference, the organization presented Minister Pranajit Singha Roy with a ten-point demand certificate. Some notable demands included providing a job to a family member in the event of a pump operator’s unfortunate demise while on duty, offering financial support of five lakh taka to families affected by electric shocks during pump operation, and ensuring a monthly salary of Rs 21,000 for each pump operator in line with labour laws. The organization also called for the regularization of pump operators in recognition of their contributions.
