Agartala, 30th April 2025: Janjati Kalyan Minister Bikash Debbarma emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring safety and a conducive environment for students residing in hostels, during a review meeting organized by the Tribal Welfare Department at Pragya Bhavan here today.
“Our primary goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of students staying in hostels. We are working relentlessly to achieve this,” said Debbarma. He further urged hostel in-charges to take on their responsibilities conscientiously and work diligently to improve the quality of the facilities.
The Minister also directed sub-district and district-level welfare officers to conduct regular inspections of hostels. “We must ensure that all services are provided properly in the hostels. The welfare of the students is paramount, and we must ensure they receive the best facilities,” he added.
Secretary of the Janjati Kalyan Department, Brijesh Pandey, also addressed the gathering. Meanwhile, Director of the department, Subhasish Das, highlighted the focus on both the physical and mental well-being of hostel students. “Along with improving the infrastructure and cleanliness, we are paying equal attention to their mental health,” he remarked.
The meeting also discussed key initiatives such as implementing biometric attendance systems, introducing smart classes, establishing e-libraries, promoting clean and green hostels, and providing free textbooks and scholarships for students.
This session showcased the Janjati Kalyan Department’s dedication to transforming hostels into hubs of quality education and holistic development.
