Agartala, 16th January 2024 : In a disappointing turn of events, the persistent efforts of Dharmanagar MLA Biswabandhu Sen to reform the work culture among state government employees have proven futile. Despite his repeated visits to various offices and impassioned pleas for a return to a diligent work ethic, the government workers continue to exhibit evasion behavior that has been ingrained over the past 25 years.
Biswabandhu Sen has taken a proactive stance in trying to bring back a sense of responsibility among government employees. However, his attempts, including stern remarks and appeals to their sense of duty, have fallen on deaf ears.
One of the glaring instances of the prevailing laxity was witnessed at the electricity regulation office in Dharmanagar on Tuesday. Despite a crowd of citizens arriving to pay their dues, no government official was present to collect the money until 11:30 am. Frustration escalated as the crowd, left unattended, eventually sought out the general manager and manager’s room to voice their complaints.
To their dismay, every table in the office was empty, and no officer was available to address the concerns. A 4th class employee informed the waiting citizens that officers might arrive at 12 noon or later, leaving them in a state of uncertainty.
Despite the persistent efforts of Biswabandhu Sen, it appears that the deeply rooted bad habits among Dharmanagar government employees persist, casting a shadow on the prospects of a meaningful change in their work culture.
