Government gives priority to upgrade sports field, infrastructure: Sudhangshu Das

Agartala, May 25, 2023: SC Welfare minister Sudhangshu Das on Thursday said that the state government has given priority for upgradation of sports fields and advanced sports infrastructure is being developed in the state.

Students and youth should be involved in sports in addition to being involved in other positive activities of the society, he added. While inaugurating the three-day state-level under-17 boys and girls kabaddi competition at the premises of Fatikroy Class XII School’s ground on Thursday, Das thanked the entrepreneurs for organizing state-level Kabaddi competition at Fatikroy.

He said that it is possible to pick up talented players through sports competitions at the school level. Just as planning, hard work, dedication and passion are required to win in sports, these qualities are also required to succeed in life. There will be many problems on the way in life, dealing with problems intelligently and only then will success come.

Minister hoisted the flag of Tripura School Sports Board on the occasion. At the same time the flags of 8 districts were hoisted. A total of 16 teams from 8 districts of the state participated in the state-based kabaddi competition organized by Tripura School Sports Board in boys and girls category.

Sabhadipati of Unakoti Zilla Parishad Amalendu Das, Chairman of Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti Sumati Das, Acting Headmaster of Fatikroy Class XII School Anup Kumar Dhar, social workers Pabitra Debnath, Animesh Sinha, Kartik Das and others were present on the occasion. Fatikroy Gram Panchayat Pradhan Rajib Das presided over the inaugural function. District Youth Program Officer Arjun Debnath delivered the welcome speech at the inaugural function.

The opening match of the competition on Thursday were between Khowai and West Tripura districts in the boys category and Gomati and North Tripura districts in the girls category.
