Agartala, May 14, 2023: Inaugurating the ‘Charak Mela’ and ‘Gajan Utsav’ at Kakraban in Udaipur on Sunday, Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha said that the state of Tripura is rich art, culture and tradition while Bengali tradition is associated with ‘Charak’ and ‘Gajan’ festival. This Gajan festival has been taking place here for about seventy years.
He said that the hardship, culture and tradition in this state are not less than any other state in India. The government is working earnestly to restore the lost culture in the state and strengthen human bonds through culture. He also asked people to be aware and stay away from divisive forces, be aware.
He said that the country can be taken forward only if peace, harmony and culture are maintained. He urged all to sustain the Indian culture by being inspired by the spirit of patriotism.
Speaking at the event, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said, “One of our traditional festivals is the ‘Charak’ and ‘Gajan’ fair. This fair attracts everyone young and old. He expressed hope that this fair will unite the people of Kakraban more in the coming days.
The two days long event was also attended by MLA Abhishek Deb Roy, Gomati district’s DM Govekar Mayur Ratilal delivered the welcome address and MLA Jitendra Majumder presided over the event.
Gomti Zilla Parishad Acting Sabhadipati Debal Debroy, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumder, Kakraban Panchayat Samiti Chairman Supriya Saha and others were present on the occasion.
