Agartala, 6th June 2025: Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu today called upon the people of the state to contribute towards building a pollution-free environment by embracing renewable energy solutions, especially solar power.
The Governor was speaking at the inauguration of a 40 kW rooftop solar power plant installed at Raj Bhavan under the initiative of the state-run agency Trader. Emphasizing the importance of green energy, Governor Reddy said, “The central government has laid special emphasis on renewable energy, and attractive subsidies are being provided to encourage citizens to adopt solar power.”
He urged residents to install solar panels on the rooftops of their homes, not just to meet personal electricity needs but also to generate surplus power that can be sold to the power department. “This will not only reduce dependency on traditional power sources but also help in achieving energy self-reliance,” the Governor added.
Highlighting the scope of solar energy in rural areas, the Governor recommended the involvement of self-help groups in setting up solar power plants to ensure power supply in remote and underserved regions. He also underscored the potential of solar energy in supporting agricultural activities across the state.
Raj Bhavan Secretary UK Chakma, Trader Director Debabrata Shuru Das, and other dignitaries were present during the event.
The initiative is seen as a step forward in Tripura’s journey toward sustainable development and environmental conservation.
