Agartala, 11th March 2026:  The present state government wants real development of the Janajati people in the state, as without their development and progress, the development of the state is not possible.

This was informed by Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath after the distribution of yarn to the tribal women weavers under the CM Tribal Development Mission at Mohanpur.

He said that the present BJP alliance government is working for the Janajati people and development-related work, while the opposition wants division. The BJP wants development in the Janajati areas.

“Due to the development work by the Tribal Welfare Department, it has received three national awards. This present government always works for the socioeconomic development of the Janajati. We have also increased the stipend of Janajati students living in hostels to Rs 100, whereas the previous government did not take any steps. We have also increased the scholarship from Rs 400 to Rs 1000. This proves how this present government is working for the Janajati,” he said.

The Minister informed that without developing the Janajati, the development of Tripura is not possible.

“The BJP wants the development of the state and Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. We have also installed smart classrooms in Janajati hostels. Since 2018, when the BJP formed the government, 29 hostels have been constructed, work on 22 is ongoing, and 48 more will be constructed. There were four Eklavya schools, and now 21 have been sanctioned. Another six will start from today,” he said.

He also said that the state government is now working to make Janajati women self-reliant, and for this, we are distributing yarn. Thirty thousand women across the state will receive yarn, and the government will spend over Rs 4 crore.

“Youths should be smart, and physical fitness should be maintained. For this, work on synthetic Astroturf football grounds is underway. The World Bank has allocated Rs 1400 crore for the economic growth of the 23 Janajati blocks. Earlier, Janajati people were neglected in every aspect, but after our government took charge, they are now receiving everything,” he said.

During the event, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma and others were present.
