Agartala: September 28. A step towards ensuring the safety and security of the people, Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Thursday said that the present state government is taking various initiatives to increase the strength of the police in the state in a move to prevent crimes and strengthen the fight against drugs.
The Chief Minister said this after inaugurating Bagbasa Police Station which was earlier known as Bagbasa Outpost.
“The law and order system in Tripura is currently in a very good position. One of the conditions for development is better law and order. If law and order is normal, investors from outside will come to the state. As the law and order system of the state is in place, the 2023 Tripura Assembly Elections can be conducted completely peacefully and smoothly. The present state government is taking various initiatives to increase the strength of the police in the state to prevent crimes and strengthen the fight against drugs,” said Dr. Saha.
Dr. Saha mentioned that this is the 87th police station in the state and the 11th police station in the North district.
“The police are working on a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. No one involved in drugs will be exempted. Strict action is being taken against those involved in drug trade as per the law. Tripura ranks well among the North-Eastern regions in terms of seizure and destruction of narcotics. However, it is not possible for the police or the government alone to eradicate drugs. For this, people from all sections of society should come forward. Along with public awareness, resistance against drugs should be developed,” said Dr. Saha.
The Chief Minister also thanked MLA Jadab Lal Nath for donating a vehicle to the Bagbasa police station on his own initiative.During the program, North District Magistrate Nagesh Kumar B, IG Law and Order Soumitra Dhar, and others were present.
