Agartala: April 26. As many as 165 handicraftsmen and artisans from various indigenous community have participated in the two-day long district-wise Artisan Fair which concluded today at the Conference Hall of the District Magistrate of West Tripura district. Speaking in a press conference West DM, Debapriya Bardhan said that out of these, 106 artisans have been selected for further training.
They will also be trained in handicrafts and artisans, organic food grains production, food processing and marketing under the joint initiative of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (Delhi), North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation (Guwahati) and TRLM, Janjati Kalyan and Forest Department. The District Magistrate said that for a long time the unskilled artists of the remote areas who are deprived of various modern technical communications have been taken to make them financially self-reliant by helping them in various ways. This fair is organized for this purpose. He thanked all those who showed interest in this program. TRIFED Colonel Binit Prabhat was present at the press conference.
