Agartala, 9th July 2026: The Department of Social Welfare and Social Education and the State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) organized a state-level orientation training programme on “State Orientation Training on Adoption Regulations, 2022” at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala today.
The programme was aimed at making the child adoption process in the state more transparent, simple, and systematic. Inaugurating the training session, Tripura’s Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy said that the main objective of the workshop was to create awareness among stakeholders about all rules and regulations related to adoption.
The Minister emphasized that ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for adopted children is one of the key priorities of the state government. He said that every child placed for adoption should get a healthy and loving family, and all officials involved in the adoption process must work together towards this goal. He expressed hope that the training would enhance the skills and efficiency of everyone associated with the adoption system.
The Chairperson of the Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TCPCR), Jayanti Debbarma, who attended the programme as the guest of honour, highlighted the importance of a transparent adoption system. She said that it is the responsibility of society to provide children deprived of family care with a secure and happy family environment, which can only be ensured through a transparent and simplified adoption process.
Delivering the welcome address, Special Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education, Tapan Kumar Das, discussed the legal procedures and guidelines related to adoption. He informed that the adoption process managed by the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) is applicable to both Indian citizens and people residing abroad. He added that individuals living overseas can also adopt children from India by following the adoption regulations laid down by CARA.
The training programme was attended by officials and stakeholders associated with the child protection and adoption process, with discussions focusing on improving coordination, awareness, and implementation of adoption regulations across the state.
