Agartala, 13th November 2025: A high-level delegation from the Tripura Health Department visited Unakoti district today to assess the rising dengue cases and review containment measures. The three-member team was led by Dr. Debasree Debbarma, Director of Health Services, accompanied by Joint Director Dr. Nirmal Sarkar and Deputy Director Dr. Shankha Shubhra Debnath.
The delegation was joined by key district health officials, including Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shirshendu Chakma, District Health Officer Dr. Sanjay Rudra Pal, and Dr. Riya Bhadra, in-charge of the Samrur Para Primary Health Centre. The team conducted inspections at several health facilities, including the District Headquarters Hospital, RGM Sub-Divisional Hospital, and Samrur Para PHC, to evaluate infrastructure, patient care systems, and preparedness against dengue.
During their visits, the officials interacted with medical staff and frontline health workers to discuss current treatment protocols, preventive strategies, and future action plans. The team emphasized the need to strengthen public awareness campaigns, sanitation drives, and rapid detection mechanisms to curb the spread of dengue. They also assured that steps are being taken to ensure adequate supply of medicines and diagnostic kits at hospitals.
Following the inspections, the delegation held a meeting with the District Magistrate to discuss broader improvements in healthcare delivery and address infrastructural gaps. The officials reiterated the state government’s commitment to maintaining heightened vigilance and confirmed that such monitoring visits would continue.
The visit comes in the wake of recent reports confirming 46 dengue cases in Unakoti district, as disclosed by CMO Dr. Shirshendu Chakma. The surge in cases, widely covered in regional media, prompted the Health Department’s swift response and on-ground assessment in Kailashahar.
