Health, food safety conducts surprise raid at 36 restaurants, hotels

Agartala, October 01, 2022:  Health Administration and Foot Safety today conducted a raid in various restaurants in and around Agartala and witnessed several irregularities. The raids were conducted at various restaurants and hotels in Agartala on Saturday afternoon.

An official of the health department said the delegation of the concerned department raided a total of 36 places including vendors, restaurants, hotels in different areas of the city including in GB Pant market.During the raid they have witnessed most of the shops are doing their business in an unsanitary manner and no cleanliness were maintained.

The delegation said that many shops do not have licenses. Restaurant staffs are inexperienced in food safety. Food is being prepared by them without any training. Besides, these hotels, restaurants and shops selling food by vendors lack extensive security. “So during Durga Puja, this campaign has been carried out so that people can eat healthy food and was directed to serve the food maintaining all cleanliness. The food is sold in a safe and clean manner. If they don’t maintain administrative team informed that legal action”, said an official.

Besides, the administrative officials have asked the owners of restaurants, hotels and vendors who do not have registration to register quickly.
