Health worker’s body recovered from Dumbur reservoir after days of search

Agartala, 20th September 2026 :  The body of health worker Jiban Choudhury, who had been missing since the night of Vishwakarma Puja, was recovered from the Dumbur reservoir on Sunday morning.

According to sources, Choudhury had gone missing on the night of Vishwakarma Puja, following which a search operation was launched. Despite prolonged efforts, there had been no trace of him until Sunday morning.

The body was reportedly spotted floating in the waters of the Dumbur reservoir in the early hours of Sunday. After receiving the information, police and the administration reached the spot and recovered the body from the reservoir.

Police subsequently sent the body for post-mortem examination. Following completion of the post-mortem procedure, the body was handed over to the family members.

The circumstances leading to Choudhury’s death have not yet been ascertained. Police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the death.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over the bereaved family and local residents.
