Agartala, 20th September 2026 : With the TTAADC Village Committee (VC) Elections 2026 approaching, Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Ipper Manchak, IPS, reviewed the security preparedness in South Tripura during a high-level meeting with senior police officers and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
The meeting, held during the IG’s visit to the district, was attended by the Superintendent of Police, South Tripura, Additional SP, SDPOs and CAPF Company Commanders. The discussions focused on the prevailing law-and-order situation and the security measures being put in place for the smooth conduct of the elections.
Manchak directed the police and security personnel to maintain strict vigilance and adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards criminal activities and any attempt to disturb public peace or disrupt the electoral process.
The meeting also reviewed security arrangements in sensitive and vulnerable areas. Officials were instructed to identify potential trouble spots and undertake necessary preventive measures to maintain a peaceful environment and boost confidence among voters.
The IG further stressed the importance of close coordination between the state police and CAPFs, particularly in the deployment of forces and management of emerging law-and-order challenges during the election period.
Security agencies were asked to remain alert and respond promptly to any situation that could affect peace and public order. The overall objective, officials said, is to ensure that the Village Committee elections are conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner across South Tripura.
