Agartala, 24th June 2024 : A distraught father has made an urgent plea for the return of his seven-year-old daughter claiming she is being subjected to inhumane treatment by her grandmother. A resident of Gobind Colony, Madhuban under Amtali police station married Shilpi Das, daughter of Bulan Das from Manipuri Chowmuhani area under Mohanpur police station. The couple welcomed a daughter shortly after their marriage.
However, the household harmony was shattered when Shilpi Das allegedly developed an extramarital affair with another man. “Despite our repeated efforts to reason with Shilpi, she refused to end the affair,” said Asim. Eventually, Shilpi Das fled with her daughter and another man. They were later apprehended by the police in the Bishramganj area following a complaint.
Upon her arrest, Asim brought his daughter back home. Subsequently, Shilpi Das escorted by the police took their daughter to her father’s house leaving her there departed for Bangalore. Since then, the young girl has been living with her grandmother Soma Das in Asim’s in-laws’ house.
“Asim Malakar alleges that his daughter is being forced to do all kinds of work in her grandmother Soma Das’s house and shop,” reported a local source. “He also claims that the child is facing both physical and mental abuse.” Furthermore, Asim stated, “My mother-in-law owns a tiffin and liquor shop, and she is making my little daughter work there, jeopardizing her future.”
With deep concern for his daughter’s well-being and future, Asim Malakar has urgently requested authorities to facilitate the return of his child to protect her from further harm.
