Hemant Verma assumes charge as Chairman of Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission

Agartala, 22nd September 2025:  Hemant Verma has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Today, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath administered the oath of office to him in his chamber at the Secretariat.

Verma has previously served as Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (CSERC) and held senior leadership positions at the Central Electricity Authority, Delhi Vidyut Board, and BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd.

 Over the course of his distinguished career, he has spearheaded landmark initiatives in AT\&C loss reduction, renewable energy integration, demand-side management, and consumer-centric digital services.

Welcoming Verma to his new role, Power Minister said, “Warm welcome to Hemant Verma as the new Chairman of the Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission.  Hemant Verma today formally took oath as the chairman of TERC at my chamber. With his extensive experience in the power sector I am confident that his tenure will bring significant reforms and consumer-friendly electricity services across Tripura”.

The Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission is the ultimate decision-making authority regarding tariffs. It considers consumer grievances and frames rules aimed at the betterment of consumers, while remaining aligned with the policies and guidelines issued by the DISCOM from time to time.
