Agartala, 22nd September 2025: On the day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tripura, the CPI(M) staged a protest highlighting the deteriorating condition of roads in the state. Led by the East Agartala local committee, a CPI(M) delegation submitted a deputation to officials of the Public Works Department (PWD), accusing the state government of neglecting everyday civic issues while showing undue enthusiasm for the Prime Minister’s arrival.
The CPI(M) leaders claimed that several roads in East Agartala have been in disrepair for a long time, riddled with potholes and making daily commutes extremely difficult for residents. They pointed out that the situation worsens during the monsoon, with broken drainage systems leading to waterlogging across neighborhoods. Despite repeated complaints—both written and verbal—the PWD has allegedly failed to take any meaningful action.
The party criticized the administration for prioritizing cosmetic improvements ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit. “Walls are being painted, and patchwork repairs are being rushed in select areas. This is nothing but a farce, and we are here today to protest this selective attention,” said a CPI(M) leader.
CPI(M) leaders warned that if the government does not take swift and comprehensive measures to address the infrastructure issues, they will escalate their agitation. “This protest is in the interest of public welfare, and we will continue our movement until real change is seen,” they affirmed.
